This not just another calendar

Hi Everyone,

It's with great regret that I have to tell you, we are cancelling the printing of the calendar.

I know that this is as big a disappointment for everybody.

Individual calendar sales have been slow even with a huge promotional effort, and based on pre-print sales we don't think that we will be able to sell enough calendars to cover the costs of printing (which is really quite big).

Anyway this has been a really tough call for me to make and I hope you understand.

We are looking at other possible ways to make this calendar available to you right now, and I hope I can offer you an alternative soon.

Until then, thanks for your support.

Imagine waking up every day and looking forward to getting out of bed in the morning and crossing another day off your life.

You may think that this seems like a strange thing to do, and normally I would agree, but right now that's exactly what I'm doing, because I can't wait to get stuck into the new year and this great new calendar.

Maybe you find that hard to believe, but let me explain.

We all know first hand that being into African music, and in particular drumming and dancing, isn't without it's challenges. One of those challenges is the lack of access to inspiring art and imagery.

So I can honestly say that we went out and created the calendar that couldn't be found anywhere else. A calendar that we would want to be able to buy in the local book store.

Why we think you'll love this calendar

  • Surround yourself and loved ones with inspiration and beauty
  • Help spread these beautiful art forms and this culture, by helping the community in Burkina Faso get on it's feet.
  • Enjoy planning your time and look forward to seeing what the next month has to bring.
  • Realise the truely internationalism of African drumming and how it's love connects people around the world.

Why a calendar?

Even if you've never had a calendar before, this is a great opportunity to get your first, because this is no ordinary calendar.

Although an electronic calendar is usefull nothing can replace the phycical agenda that can be shared by a household and used to plan weekends etc.

Indeed the most important part of this calendar is the photography. It is a practical vehicle to carry a beautiful piece of art.

What does it look like?

Have a look at the 5 page sample (this link opens in a new window) so that you can have a really good idea what the calendar looks like.

Pre-Print sale

Printing is quite a costly exercise and prices only become reasonable when you print in really high volumes. This undertaking is pretty unprecedented, so it's hard to gauge what demand will be like.

As such we could end up with 1000s of euros (and dollars) of useless calendars.

Since we are not a commercial venture we can't risk that, so the pre-print sale gives us a chance to judge demand, reduce risk.

Print has started as of Tuesday the 7th of December, we expect calendars to be posted on the 16th of December.
