Abdoulaye Diakite djembe lessons in San Francisco Bay Area

abdoulaye is back in the bay area for 6 months while he applies for citizenship and receives further medical treatment. he has resumed teaching every sunday. abdoulaye is a master drummer in the bamana repertoire of mali and is descended from the fula people. he grew up in tambacounda, senegal, which was a hub of bamana music culture. for 18 years abdoulaye toured the world with the national ballet of senegal as their lead soloist. he has taught and performed in usa for some 20 years and has taken students to his hometown for over 10 years.

where:
la pena cultural centre, 3105 shattuck ave, berkeley ca
when:
sundays. beginners class 10-11am with jesse servin ($5). all level class with abdoulaye diakite 11am-12.30pm ($15). only $20 for both classes!
what:
-djembe, dunun, songs, and history will all be taught
-bring your own drum
-recorders welcomed and encouraged
