Discuss gear and techniques for recording and stage performance
By bresail
Carl has hit the nail on the head and has answered my questions and put me straight on many points.
To begin with I'll use a smaller instrument so that I am free to move around and aid the people that need it. I will also put the people with a better sense of rhythm next to the lesser rhythmic ones.
The mounting of an amp etc on a djembe I will put on a back burner but I'm meeting with a couple of practical sound engineers the coming week as I still believe it can be done.
So thanks a lot folks.
By the way, in one of my other lives I spent a lot of time living in the jungle in South east Asia and they have a drum, the gedombak, that resembles the djembe. It is thought that the trading arabs brought them with them in the 9th century.
