Hello Bkidd,
it was a concert in Berlin, April 8th this year, where several bands played:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Berliner- ... 9180013336
This year's edition was a benefit concert for Paul Engel. Paul was among the first Europeans who stayed with Famoudou in Conakry (in 1989 or 1990) and recorded the first FK disc (with Johannes Beer) for the "Museum für Völkerkunde" (ethnology museum) Berlin in 1990, and he was the first to give classes that deepened the subject "traditional Djembé music from Guinea" in Germany.
Paul has been very ill since April 2010, when he had a heart attack. That's why the organizers of the normally independent "Berliner Djembénacht" (Djembe-Night Berlin), decided to give any income of this year's edition to him (you imagine, it wasn't that much, it was more a token gesture).
Two of my band collegues took classes with Paul some 10 years ago and 3 of us were part of his last band project (playing his own "dundunba rhythms", like some people did in Toulouse (F) and elsewhere, too). That's our link to Paul and to this event.
We are going to upload some more videos from this concert the next weeks (it was very nice, there were many dancers around, quite rare occasion in Germany).
Have a nice time,
Daniel

I'd like to know more about that common Sangban Enchauffement that I hear alot. You can hear it around 4:56.

I've heard it on Dundunbe (I think Billy Konate plays it on one of Famoudou's albums) and Soli, but is that specific phrase specific to any particular rhythm, or is it a dundunba think or what's the story?

i don't think you heard that chauffe on dunungbe. check it again. it's a traditional chauffe for soli only, if not "THE" chauffe for soli, especially in hamana/gberedu. there are other variations on how to play it, but daniel kills the chauffes in this clip.
should i shave my moustache?
