Two days after this concert, which was during the Oslo World Music festival, I visited a workshop with Sidiki in Oslo. That weekend he was also giving a concert with a Malian and a Burkinabe on djembe, kora and balafon, with a dancer. Sidiki's drumset nowadays is indeed two kpanlogo's, a low-pitched djembe, cymbals and a calebas. And boy, do I remember the anclebells from the workshop....
Once I saw a concert with the Sidiki band, they played also pieces from his Ayou Wele cd, which is one of my favourite cd's, but with this band it sounded very different, so to say. And in this clip it's hard to recognize Diarabi as most people know it. But it shows Sidiki's creativity with music, and what I like very much about him: he is very into tradition, but has a mind which is open for lots of different music.
