Good idea I LIKE the way you think Michi. Kids these days, I have one 22 thinks he knows everything…..lol! Kid trying to suck up in his last post don’t let him off the hook. J/K! I’m just messing with you guy’s lmao! :D

Well, I was telling The Kid to get off his lazy behind and do his own search instead of asking the mods to do his dirty work for him

You are right: kids these days just aren't what they used to be. When I was a kid, I knew what it meant to have respect for one's elders. Kids just have it too easy these days. I had to walk to school every day, through the snow, and it was uphill, both ways! ;)

I’m wondering if the slow down in portable recorders is because cell phone recorders are advancing and cornering the market? They are a more convenient multi-device.

I haven't had much luck with my iPhone for recording drums, and I find that just about everyone reports the same problems, regardless of model of phone: the microphone in a mobile phone is designed for low sound pressure levels and you get horrible distortion at the volume levels produced by drums.

The slow-down in portable recorders is probably more likely due to the market having reached a degree of maturity where it's more difficult to come up with compelling new features for a new model. After all, once "it works" and you have decent battery life and storage capacity, there is little you can add to a recorder to make it more attractive to (what are mostly amateur) buyers.

Here is my first recent Djembe recording and u-tube up load from my Samsung Fascinate couple years old.

I like the maracas as drumsticks. Creative idea :)

I notice a fair bit of distortion in the sound though. You probably need something that can cope better with the high volume level.
