I def don't dig that hip hop. I seen the nankama thing ages ago but thought they were pure cheeky using the 'nankama' as its Mamady Keitas name. Like surely they know 'Nankama" is mamadys name. Mamady deserves that name and they should respect that. IMO...,
The other guys are good rappers but the music is pure cheese. (Polished crap thats the Darrj vid)IMO
I'm happy that all the djembe masters will never be influenced by western music. This is a debate, is African music influenced by Other foreign styles. Of course it is. All over the place, but the traditional Masters will never change there approach. And look at us all learning drums travelling all over W Africa. We go to learn traditional drumming. Of course this changes with new generations but still it will never become something for relaxing with a gin and tonic. Traditional african music is about Dancing and ceremonies and festivals.
