hi paul. yes, there was a yoruba migration to sierra leone (during the 18th century and tied in with the slave trade), hence the yoruba influence in krio language and customs and this is very apparent in the ode (hunting) society (btw, ode is a yoruba word). there is a part of freetown called foura bay that is dominated by aku (those of yoruba descent) where this influence is most pervasive. for a historical account i would recommend sierra leone and its people by bankole kamara taylor, the krio of sierra leone: an interpretive history by akintola wyse.
