Hi there,

Wow! Enjoyed that. I like the way he has the drums tuned. When you hear drums played like that it becomes easier to understand the relationship between drums and instruments like the bala and gyil. Percussion instruments but with more notes to play...

I'm surprised he didn't start twirling the sticks!

The tunings he's using remind me of congas.

The dununs play melody, in both traditional and more contemporary styles of djembe/dunun ensemble. Djembe parts didn't start making sense to me until I moved to the "back line." (And I prefer it there; also love playing bass djembe.)
