BORODOMBOROLA, Super Zamaza a' Konsankuy.

Postby Nodrog » Thu Mar 18, 2010 8:51 pm

Hi there,

Since I got my bala from Guinea, once in a while I take a quick trip through Youtube to see if there are any bala performances that I may have missed.

This is one that I missed. I'm sure it's not that new but WOW! For those who stick with it till the end, be prepared for the increase of tempo and how together these guys are.

I'm still tired from just watching and listening.

Gordon. :dance2:

I noticed this thread and wanted to say that everyone interested in pentatoniq balafon should buy Aly Keita's The Balafon DVD. It contains two discs. The first one has lessons of some traditional rhyhtms with few accompaniments, melodyparts and some there is variations for some accompaniments. Every rhythms has been played also as duo with Gert Kilian. There is also possibiliy to be playing with Aly, if you have same tuned balafon as Aly has. The first disc includes also soloperformances of Aly Keita. The second disc includes very nice, interesting and beautifull document of life in Konsankuy. Especially I enjoyed watching duo playing of Aly and his brother Kassoum, who is traditional balanfola. This BORO DOMBOROLA -clip is in this dvd-set among other liveperformances of Super Zamaza. I keep watching show time after time and admiring the beauty of voice of female singers and balanfola's passionate playing.

I have allways said La Voix du Balafon is very exceptional learning packet for pentatoniq balafon, but I have to say Balafon Dvd is some way even better, even if there isn't as many rhythms taught as in La Voix du Balafon.
