From the cd 'Komi Jose Buanzan' issued in 2008:
"Komi Jose Buanzan is performed in recognition of the Komi Jose Troupe, originally formed in Bamako, Mali in 1985 under directorship of Dibril Traore and followed by Moussa Traore. The balafon and djembe-song and dance originating in Bobo and Bamanan village traditions, inevitably travel to the city of Bamako where they are arranged for balletstyle performance. Here, Basidi and the Buanzan innovate and pay respect to this sound of their ancestors and teachers with their own arrangemants and instrumentation. Fast moves drive an ensemble of young singers while maintaining the tradition of the village masters. This is music of west-africa which is about to change everything, again..."
The cd is very listenable. But I guess hard to find. Sidiki Camara came with it when I was in Mali.
