Is this guy really Malian? Djembe and technique sound more Guinean to me. However, I really like his djembekan. A few original phrases and he is bloody fast...

Thanks Michi for sharing

Yes, it does sound like Abondan in places. Well spotted! I only recognized it after you provided the hint.

I think he's from Mali. I couldn't find a lot of info about him, only bits and pieces:

Adama DAOU est un artiste malien de djembe, de balafon, de kora et de chant. Il très connu en Afrique occidentale ( Mali, Burkina, Guinée, Niger, Cote d’Ivoire ,…), en Allemagne, en Norvège, en Luxembourg et en France (MJC de Carvin ; MJC de Tourcoing, Ivry,…)

Google translate turns that into:

Adama DAOU is an artist Malian djembe, balafon, kora and singing. It is well known in West Africa (Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Niger, Ivory Coast, ...), Germany, Norway, Luxembourg and France (MJC Carvin; MJC de Tourcoing, Ivry, ...)

I also found this in a Facebook wall post dated 26 Nov 2010:

The African Dinner show features tonight performances of Awa Sonko, dancer from Senegal, and Adama Daou from Mali, Frédéric Buet from Côte d'Ivoire and Zongo Souleymane from Burkina Faso.

I don't only recognize the rhythm, but after reading that he is also known in Norway I recognized the djembefola too! Last november I visited a workshop in Oslo with Sidiki Camara. During the worldmusic-festival he was playing together with Sidiki in the african cultural centre with a group of also balafon, kora and dancing. He is indeed Malian. I think it's the same group in the facebook wall post in Michi's post. Indeed over there I was excited about his playing, like in this video. Thanks for posting.
