Good thing, you'll have plenty of business cause I have yet to see a West African djembe that has not had Invasive (Dark) Energy cast into it. Be adept at purging Curses, Jinxes and Spells in the multiple degrees that are found there, and some of them are well buried. They hinder the free expression and response of the djembe, and compromise its sound (the best drums you hear out there have the least I.E. for some reason).

Usually all this doesn't noticeably affect a drum's performance, with the exception being a drummer who's spiritually (energetically) advanced i.e. Soungalo Coulibaly. One can hear him almost fighting some of his drums to get his sound out of them, since the dimension (3rd) he was playing out of was pushing up against the Dark Energy in his drum(s).

Once this is purged out it's then immediately obvious, as I've directly experienced. For Soungalo it would've been a dramatic change given where he had evolved himself to - exquisite drummer none the less and further testimony to his deep intent and talent. Arguably perhaps, Soungalo was the most lyrical djembefola to play in modern times.

Just out of curiosity, how did you learn about these things, and from whom? (I'm not meaning to be sarcastic in the least - but this all strikes me as a bit unusual, and the terminology seems confusing.)

Have West African drummers told you about these things?

I'm a Metaphyscian who simply applied what I've been shown and learned from Spirit to djembes and djembefolas, as I became familiar with them. Same dark energy can befall people, organizations etc. Some djembefolas have told me about the hazards of evil intent that can harm them and/or their drum, a few of them overtly wear protection on their arms, place it in their djembes or wear it in their djembefola hats - powerful stuff. Others take measures to protect themselves in private. They did not describe to me the detail level I later discovered thru my other work.

When you say "the terminology seems confusing" what were you referring to?

OK.... again, I'm having some difficulty understanding the terminology you're using (including "metaphysician" - do you perhaps mean "mystic"?), but hey... we're getting pretty far off the thread topic.

I'm aware of the things you describe regarding some Africans' beliefs, and there are other threads on this board where many of those things are discussed, under the general heading of West African culture. Should show up if you do a search or two.

I think I'm content to stick with learning about West African music (etc.) for the most part.

cheers,
e.

That Djembe case could have been used in ghost busters as a containment for ghoats and gauls.

t*****9, i like your idea do. Next time you fuck up a solo you can blame the little spirits
in your drum. brilliant.

We do have my little battles here in ireland with the leprachans. Up the chimney playing bag pipes at all hours. What can ya do but leave um out a bit of cake and whiskey and they'll sleep tight.
