PULLING STAND

Postby jimmymack71 » Wed Oct 14, 2009 7:23 am

Hey Guys, I've just made ten ten djembes in a week with a pulling bar and am now very sore, but a lot more ripped!! :flex:
Has anyone got any specifications for a pulling stand?,even a simple one will do.I've looked at the threads on the sight and like the look of Bolokadas, but I can't see how he's attached the foot lever.I'm in London and they don't sell them here.I'm thinking of a simple one to put on a table.any suggestions of how you have made yours would be great!!
Thanks as always, James.

Bolokada uses a door hinge to connect his foot pedal/lever to the base of the stand.

Door hinge? That makes sense...but no spring? the foot lever just gets pulled up by the rope,as simple as that?

Hi Jimmy,

To answer to your question, I will like to advice that you have to use a piece of commen stick. A stick of a diameter 3-4cm with a height of about 30-40cm with the edges oval, then place under the weave or lased rope and turn it round to pull and clip the rope with clipping pliers, then take the stick out pull lasing ropr with your hand to fit 3-5lines of the lasing rope and then agian place the stick under the lasing rope turn it to repeat the first step still you finish pulling all the lasing rope to get the preffered sound.

No pics from anybody?

I'd like to see one just so as no to reinvent anything, but I'd also be happy to give you any design tips as well.

ok, i will not argue semantics with you, b. to me, a pulling stand is something that eliminates strain on your back from pulling the rope, makes the job a lot quicker and does not require a stick. with the stand i have (as does michi, another member here), we put the drum straight on it and attach a clip (the ones used for sailing and mountain climbing, which grab the rope without the need to wind it around anything or tighten anything) to the part of the rope we want to tighten. then we put our foot on the lever, and the rope gets very tight (in fact, you have to be careful not to break the rope from too much force).

your technique works well too, but the guy who started this topic was already using that way and wanted help making a pulling stand like ours.
