South East Guinea?????

Postby Paul » Mon Oct 24, 2011 8:37 pm

Anyone been to Beyla, Nzerekore or even Kissiougou.. I don't hear much about the area but for some reason I am intrigued..

Is it dangerous?
Do they play much drums?

spent some time in and around Kissi.

i had one of my best meals ever down an alley from the gare. fried, stuffed fish and fried plaintains.

they do play drums there. we were at the market looking for supplies before we left for the village...on our way out, we heard djembes and dununs. there was a weekly political rally/gathering and local crew were out providing some music.
should i shave my moustache?

I live not far from Beyla and go to town at least twice a month and have done so for the past two years. I also know of a large number of of friends who regularly go to N'Zerekore.

trust me when I say its safer than walking through New York, London or Sydney!

enjoy yourself!!

Thanks for that.. Its deffinately on the to go list, though perhaps not on djembe related activities.. I live in London now so haven't been mugged yet, but I certainly never saw anyone as obnoxiously drunk anywhere in Africa..
