Found 2 very interesting articles on Malaria today. Both are written this month, January 2010 and both are optimistic of some progress on this djembefola (and many more) killing disease:

I have heard of people who have built up an immunity loosing it once they have been overseas for some time and then they get Malaria when they return they are vulnerable.

Perhaps this is relevent to Boka and Soungalo?

My teacher last year went to Guniea and Mali after a long time and fell sick with Malaria and had to be hospitalised.
If you want to see me kick some butt, just tell me about all the things you think I won't be able to do
