Last minute packing!

Postby dleufer » Tue Oct 25, 2011 11:09 pm

Hey guys,
Just said I'd say a quick goodbye before I hit the road to Guinea!
Thanks very very much to everyone on this forum who helped me out in planning this trip, I know I harassed some people more than other with questions and I am very grateful for all the answers.
I've got six weeks with Mansa Camio planned and it's all up in the air after that.
If anyone's going to be in West Africa send me a pm and maybe we can meet up. I'd be keen to tour around the villages a bit and it would be nice to have some company so drop me a line if you're coming over.
Anyways, enjoy the winter! :D

Best of luck on your trip! Try to post an update occasionally when you get to an Internet cafe!

Cheers,

Michi.

Hey guys,
I 'm charging my phone in an internet cafe so I thought I'd post an update on the trip. This is my last night in Bamako for a while, I'm off to Guinea in the morning to Baro. There was some very cool music today, a festival called 'Danse Bamako' organized a parade with Dogon masks, Donso nGoni playing hunters with lots of shooting, some crazy Fula flute amplified through a loudspeaker and a very cool group called Siguidiya Percussion. The lead player was Karim Coulibaly, an oldish guy, very cool style. I took a video but I can't post it until I get back in March.
His number is 00223 76024831 if anyone's planning to be in Bamako soon.
Anywas, I'm off to the bush!

Karim Coulibaly appears on Sega Sidibe's 'Sega kan Do' instructional cd's/dvd's as well!
