Floods in Queensland

Postby michi » Thu Jan 13, 2011 3:37 am

A few people asked my how things are going over here with the floods. So, rather than replying individually and saying the same thing over and over again, I wrote a blog post.

Cheers,

Michi.

that's a very clear and well put together summary of the situation in queensland at the moment. my prayers go out to all those whose lives have been devastated by this disaster.

the floods are continuing further south in the northern part of the state of new south wales, and the country has been warned about the real possibility of floods continuing throughout the entire east coast of australia, including tasmania. yesterday, 850 people were evacuated from grafton in northern new south wales after the water level of the clarence river reached 7.6m. towns all along the clarence river (394km or 244 miles) are becoming flooded, with a further 2,000 ordered to evacuate along its stretch.

I posted an update. The good news is that we'll be able to use our teaching venue as planned!
