Hi,
After a long time not posting.
I've been making a lot of different drums and musical instruments, some successful some,( not many, thank goodness), not so. They are all related to West African traditional music.
I now have 5 udu drums, of different tunings. An udu, (metal), which can also double as a hand, stick or mallet, bell/drum.
A partially complete balaphone, partially, because I cannot make up my mind if I want a five or eight key instrument.
I will now get to why I posted on this bolon thread. I have only seen pictures of a bolon of various types including djigui's from the album cover and I do have the cd. Somewhere on the web I have seen a cut diagram of a donso, but I am unable find it again.
Can anyone help?
I have a lot of gourds? My prize one is a 24 inch one which I do not want to start on until I have first of all practised with a less rare 10 inch one.
I will post pictures of my made drums/instruments and reveal what they are made of as I finish them.
Retirement is great.
regards,
Bresail.
