Tisamba?

Postby djemberay » Mon Nov 28, 2011 6:18 pm

Greetings all,

A friend asked me about this rhythm. Does anyone have information on history, cultural context, ethnicity? It's been mentioned a few times in passing here in the forum. Thank you all!

It might be Tasaba that your looking for.

Edit,

Tisamba or Tisanba is a traditional Bamana rhythym similar to tansole according to djansa.be

http://www.djansa.be/Home/index.php?con ... &locale=en

I'm sure someone will have more info

djansa.be has the information completely transfered from Rainer Polaks liner notes to his cd Bamako Foli:

http://tcd.freehosting.net/djembemande/bamako3.html

although he doesn't say anything specific on tisanba (first track of the recording), you can learn a lot on the sociocultural background of that music. A must read!

best, jürgen
