Sources for Dibon--Recordings and Notations

Postby EvanP » Sun Jul 03, 2011 7:33 pm

Does anyone know of sources for Dibon other than Famadou's CD? Specifically I'm looking for dunun notation of the different variants.

Thanks!

Evan

A search turned up these notations, one of which was from Mamady, but it's not clear which version they are.

Here is Paul Na's cool website with a bunch of rhythms transcripted and with synth to hear individual parts (although I'd like to be able to hear the dununba and bell together, and can't seem to figure out how to do that). Playing the files requires downloading a Soundclub player.

hello Evan,
you should get the SENEDUNUN disc of Mansa's. There are 3 pieces that I would call Dibon on it. It's the best procuced sources of these rhythms (that I know) by far. There's great singing, too!
