rhythm tama on donkili cd

Postby djembefeeling » Thu Nov 24, 2011 11:31 pm

Hi Guys,

I am working on Garanké lately and did listen to and transcribed every recording I could find. Today, while heading a djembe, I listened to the Dònkili CD and thought I did hear Garanké, but the tracks name is Tama. Does anyone know if those are the same or if there is any slight difference in konkoni I did not notice or is there just a different occasion they are played for, like Garanké and Jina 2?

By the way, if you have some nice recordings of Garanké, I would be glad to get them by email...

Hi there,

I think you're right. The konkoni on this track is the same as far as I know for garanke.
PM me your email, I just found some nice recordings from my Malian trip with Sidiki Camara, who teaches some really nice solophrases for this rhythm. With dununs, so you can hear their way to play garankedon.
