AFRICAN-BASED RHYTHMS FOR DRUM CIRCLES
This is a link to a google document, in rtf, so you should be able to print it off. I was looking for a book that had all the rhythms in one place, easy to read, easy to print, edit, etc.... I couldn't find one, so I did it myself. Please let me know what you think.

Some of that stuff has been online for years, djembe parts for samba, conga parts for african rhythms, agogo parts for malinke rhythms.. Every time its reproduced it gains credibility, whats wrong with learning from traditional teachers or atleast dvds from mamady keita or Fadouba oulare..

Paul nas stuff seems fairly good, but as a guideline, your not going to something like lamba right from just reading it.. Sorry...

Checked it out to see something...

I wrote a rhythm back in the late '90s and yes, it's still int there! (Calamari 2-3 polyrhythm)

I wrote a couple of others back in the day, but they didn't survive.

Definitely interesting to look back 10+ years and see what I was writing. :-)

Thanks for keeping it alive.

I really should "publish" some of my other original material. I don't know why more people don't do this more often. Granted, it's hard to compete with a few hundred years of tradition, but that it no reason not to put your own voice out there!

Carl AKA Frater Calamari back in the day...

BTW Calamari is an anagram for "I am a Carl" I didn't know this when I started using the webhandle, it was pointed out to my by my advisor in school... weirded me out for a couple of months!
