Jembe + krin = krinbe

Our friend Tom posted this on Facebook. It's a jembe with a krin carved into the stem. Notice that the bottom is closed to reduce air loss and maintain low frequency response.

I saw this on there too... I think it's awesome. I would love one of these. I hadn't noticed the closed bottom initially, good eye. I'm sure there are a million nerdy gear-head pro and con arguments, but ultimately this is one of the more innovative (and practical) things I've seen done to a djembe. I would love to hear how it sounds, but I also know if you put this into any fola's hands, it would sound awesome.

EDIT: looks like a bass djembe to me...
