yup. aka kenefoli.

usually played in maninka villages for the guy who performs the circumcisions. he gets to dance alone in the bara.
should i shave my moustache?

So that would be the same purpose as Saa? The feel of Kenefoli is similar too. Not sure I'd call them the same rhythm the way it's played in the video and the way it's written in Mamady's book. But the character is quite similar, despite the differences.

Nice soloing on that video too! Not that complex, but very effective!

the soloist in that video is named Naby Soumah aka Waidou.

I didn't know that the circumciser did a solo performance. I would expect that the same is true for Saa?

Somewhere , I think I heard or read that the circumciser has a name or title when he is performing in his role. Anyone know whether that is correct and what the name might be?
