thank you for your reply bops!
im sure it was kado. to be honest, after re-playing the parts at home, i get the idea that it may just have been excersise in technique. a very good one, he really worked us hard and it contained all the basiscs. tempo, defenition of b/t/s and combining everything. but i never got the sense of it being a rhythm like others i've played before. it was missing that swing you know?
there were also a couple of beginners in the class who from what i could tell didnt really have all the basics down quite yet. it was an excellent class, and a very good excersise that i'll use a lot to practice. but in the past have i've found plenty of information on the rhythms i've learned. i try to get as much info on the history and cultural significance of the rhythm as i possibly can (yay djembefola.com!!!) but there is nothing to be found with this name. i dont like doubting my teacher and i would have been perfectly fine if i was told today we are going to focus on our playing technique so that next time we can properly learn a rhythm.
so perhaps i'm wrong (which i wouldnt mind at all) but im really not sure.
