african drumming in rio

Does anyone know of any djembe drummers in Rio de Janeiro and how I might be able to get in contact with them? There are heaps of references around about African drumming (Brazillian styles Maracatu etc.) and condomble etc., but I am on the hunt for Trad. West African players. ANY direction would be much appreciated!

I have been to Rio once and I have a few friends heavily involved in the music scene there and as far as I know, traditional djembe players are pretty much non-existant in Rio.

You will probably find many more up in Bahia but from what I have seen and heard there doesn't seem to be a heap of interaction between those two parts of the world.

Are you in Rio now?
