Montreal Tam tams

Postby jimkerryhelmer » Fri May 21, 2010 3:27 am

Every Sunday on park st, downtown Montreal 100's if not 1000's of drummers come to celebrate life playing drums and meeting new people. I am there almost every week, and know almost every drummer. It is one of, if not the largest weekly gathering of drummers in the world. Many professional drummers have made their way down to this event.

Yeah this is definitely a sight to see for anyone in town.
There are literally HUNDREDS of people who come jam every sunday until sun set.
Usually you have the main circle where all types of different percussion instruments jam together (i.e. Djembe, Darbouka, Tamborine, Guiro, etc.). Typical drum circle stuff.

However, the more traditional African Rhythm percussionists usually branch out into another circle. Check out this video of the Bangoura brothers jamming it out. These guys have alot of talent.
