this is a great documentary for its time.

produced in 1968, during the renaissance of african dance in the united states, this film makes frequent references to authentic traditions, showing black and white footage of actual ceremonies. it also shows footage of the afro-american dance ensemble (in colour). the film takes the evolutionary stance that mankind originated in africa. featured is the chiwara dance of the bambara people.

length: 22 mins
formats: mpeg2 (714.1mb), ogg (90.3mb) and mp4 (92.7mb).
