that's how maarten lists them in the book. i guess that's because one of them has the name 'dji', so it can be used to differentiate them. but he probably mentions that in the book. maybe someone else can chime in here?

it is two different rhythms indeed.
the names, well..., not even all drummers use these names. But we can still take it as an example:
What Famoudou calls Kassa 1 and Kassa 2 (and which reflects the reality in Sangbarala quite well) are 2 completely different rhythms.
I can still imagine that the 2nd (the Baro Dyi) has evolved from the first, but it's just speculation.

let's talk later in the Könöwulen thread.

Hello everyone,

I suddenly recieved an order for Rhythms from Baro, from Los Angeles some time ago, and than I got a link from a friend of mine, that Daniel wrote a review on this forum about it... :D

Thank you very much Daniel for all your effort and promotion!

The book sells very good and goes all over the world. Luckely; for most people it's not a problem that the language is in Dutch. In the near future the book will also come out in French. And I will really try to convince my label, to bring it out in English too. But that's the future.

If you have any questions concerning the book, please don't hesitate to ask.

It's possible to order the book with me, and I will include a translation in English of the explanation of the notation. It's also possible (and easy) to order it by www.djembe-webshop.com.

Kind regards,

Niels Fleurke
