Map of Guinea

Postby michi » Wed Nov 16, 2011 11:58 pm

I'm looking for a map of Guinea, preferable A3 to A2 in size, for teaching, so people get an idea of where things actually are.

I've been searching the web, and haven't been able to come up with much. Does anyone know of an online shop that might sell a decent map of Guinea and/or West Africa?

I found one decent overview map of Guinea online, but it would be nice to have something larger with a bit more detail.

Thanks,

Michi.

Hi Michi,

If you were able to find a decent map in vector graphics format, then you could scale it whatever size you like and print it out. The first couple sites I found with this type of option were pretty expensive though.

There's also the cheaper, yet cheesy version here.

Maybe that helps some.

Good luck,

Michi,

I decided to try one last search through the Academic route and found Harvard offers this.

It seems like this map is information rich and you could customize what you wanted in terms of view, size, what's displayed, etc.

Hope that helps,
-Brian

What you need is the maps they sell in certain parts of Guinea. Next trip I will get maybe a dozen. They are about 5' x 3'. It what Famoudou, Mamady and I all use in lectures and classes. I may be able to get some shipped next week from my folks there! alan@drumconnection.com

Yes.

Doh! It should have occurred to me that, if I want a map of Guinea, Guinea is probably one of the better places to look for one… ;-)

I found this map of Guinea for $16.95. It's nice and detailed, with a scale of 1:1,000,000 (1cm per 10km). Around 85cm x 45cm in size.

Cheers,

Michi.

it's to be found somewhere on www.ign.fr , too.
As I lost my guinean one, I bought the last one in France (just the same, but more expensive, of course).
