Found this book today too...

Can't see any info except that it's expensive and that there appears to be a chap playing a djembe on it....

Interesting... anyone seen this before? Looks like Japanese writing or something...

I found it while searching for Mamady Keita.

I found the following:

(CHIFUSA, KOU). Chifusa, Kou, Mamady Keita & Yosuke Yamashita. KOU CHIFUSA: MANDINKA - SOUNDSCAPE IN WEST AFRICA. Kyoto, JAPAN: Seigensha, Inc., 2000. First Edition. 4to. Boards in Illustrated DJ. Photography Monograph. Fine/Fine. np (144pp), profusely illustrated in b&w. Text in English and Japanese. With a chronology. Published only in Japan, this is a beautiful survey of West African musicians and musical instruments by photographer Kou Chifusa. Taken primarily in Guinee, Senegal, and on Goree Island, these portraits truly convey a sense of the indigenous musics, and the joy of those performing them.

Cheers,

Michi.
