from the cd notes:
Komi Jose Buanzan is performed in recognition of the Komi Jose Troupe, originally formed in Bamako, Mali in 1985 under directorship of Dibril Traore and followed by Moussa Traore. The balafon and djembe-song and dance originating in Bobo and Bamanan village traditions, inevitably travel to the city of Bamako where they are arranged for balletstyle performance. Here, Basidi and the Buanzan innovate and pay respect to this sound of their ancestors and teachers with their own arrangemants and instrumentation. Fast moves drive an ensemble of young singers while maintaining the tradition of the village masters. This is music of west-africa which is about to change everything, again...

Haha! Very funny to see this CD here. Every night I went to the Bambous bar in Bobo-Dioulasso some dodgey guys would come over trying to sell me this CD saying that it was whatever band were playing that night. I never bought it out of protest against those guys even though it looked quite good. They used to get quite pissed off when I told them that they had tried to sell it to me the night before with the same story.

Yes, the dodgey guys tried to sell me the CD as well, and I produced it!

Lucky for you SambaLolo has nothing to do with the dodgy CD resellers. If you wish to get any of the Bwazan CDs you can download from a number of sites, or if you purchase direct from SambaLolo in Mali or US or at http://groupbwazan.bandcamp.com, it will be mailed to you in a custom designed CD pouch made from local West African cloth, at no cost.

I am glad you guys have enjoyed the Bwazan video, here is the latest for more appreciation and edification. The sound should satisfy those looking to learn from Bwazan's incredible speed and the video shows just how much they enjoy what they are doing.
