Hello from Peterborough, Ontario, Canada

My name is Paul, and I'm an elementary teacher, but also a drummer/percussionist. I've studied drums since I was 11. I have mostly been interested in the improvisational aspect of music, but I've also studied Tala Theory along with drums from some very serious teachers in my youth.
I've got a drum gro p going at my school, and we've learned about 6 pieces. I was on the lookout for a good resource, but all the online materials varied so much in transcription styles, file types, etc... I decided to make my own compilation of African-based Rhythms for Drum Circles. Please download the file and let me know what you think.
The file is too large to upload to djembefola, so go to this link:

Hi Paul -

Welcome.

Are there any teachers from Africa in your area? I sometimes roll that way on my way to Ottawa or stay in the area at friends - it would be nice to know of a Mandean (spelling?) teacher in that part of the world for lessons.

If you come to Toronto, give me a shout, there are some good teachers here with workshops on weekends.
