Hello from Belgium

Postby toubab » Thu Jan 13, 2011 10:13 am

Hello,
My name is Kim (male version), i live in Belgium (born 1974) and i love WestAfricanPercussion!!!

I play for 5 years now, first taking lessons from Patrick Stassijns (certified TTM teacher) and later from Babs Jobo too.
Participated in several workshops from Mamady Keïta, Babara Bangoura, Sidiki Camara and others.

My girlfriend is also playing for 4 years now, and I hope our little doughter of 2months old will become a little "djembefolette" too. :D

I was registered 2 years ago but really started reading a lot since 1month, when i was looking for tips and tricks for reskinning djembé's. I reskinned 6 djembé's now (5 last month) and i really like it.

That's about it for now!

Greetings Kimbé :djembe:

Hi Kim, you're very welcome.

Are you playing regularly at the moment? If so do you play with friends or a group?

Thanks!

I play regularly, i go to class 2 times a week, and with some other students we formed a group and do rehearsals about 2 times a month (sometimes more, now in winter less) and do some small gigs now and then, and i also practice quite a lot on my own.
In the past we were playin at my house weekly too but thats quite difficult now because of our baby, but i'm thinking of making a "soundproof djemberoom", using the stuff they use for building a studio.
When i play on my own at home now I put a towell in my djembe and a thin protector over the head so everything is silenced a lot.

edit: i forgot to say that i play at african dance classes weekly too!

(sorry for my basic english)

greetings
