Hi, I'm Matt living just north of Sydney.
Briefly... Last Feb (2009) I bought an Indonesian djembe from a music store. After about 3 weeks I knew drumming was going to become important to me - I also knew that I needed a new drum

. I found myself meeting lots of awesome new people too.... and it was not long before I built a Guinea djembe - with some guidance.
I did a couple of terms of classes with a community drumming company here called InRhythm. They were great to get me started - but I craved more... I discovered that Sibo Bangoura was running weekly classes just 20mins down the road!... so that's where I've been almost every Saturday morning since June last year. Yes. Addicted.
I attended Farafina last Month and loved it. It's an annual easter 3.5day drum (and dance) camp here run by Mohamed Bangoura, along with Sibo and Malin. An awesome weekend!
Though I found this site when I bought my first drum last year, it's been more recently that I've been reading a lot and I'm finding lots of posts which I can relate to my own experiences, and that help answer many questions.
Thank you djembefola.com. Thank you posters!
Matt.
