Things djembe players should not say in public

Postby bubudi » Sat May 30, 2009 5:17 pm

some things you might say to your drum buddies which could sound a bit wrong out of context:

here, strap this on!

give it a good slap!

you wanna do it standing up or on a chair?

we went all night and my hands are killing me!

i stretched that thing so tight it nearly popped!

don't stop now, we're just getting into the rhythm!

i'm gonna hit that good tonight!

mine's 14 inches and boy is the wood hard!

give her a good oiling before you mount her.

we were doing yamama last night!

I prefer mine shaved.

Dang, that thing smells like a goat...

I could bang all day and never get tired.

Is your stick curved or straight?

- If you are looking for a new one, look for cracks.
- The faster you go, the lesser the hand movement.
- The best one is with a flared bottom.

- I like them well-rounded...

- If you want to play, you need to last for at least an hour.

- Tighter is better.

Cheers,

Michi ;)

Adam, that is a riot!

How about:

I sometimes play by myself, but prefer to do it with others.

The ring was just a bit too tight so I used a rubber mallet to try to force it but it ended up slipping way too far! I'm going to need to put a new skin on it now, the old one tore right in half...
