Is this a machine made shell ?

Can anyone tell me about how this Djembe is made? to me , it look like a machine carved

i'm sure the owners of wula will be flattered by your question!

actually, they are hand carved in guinea. you can see the marks the tools made in the inside of the shells. a lathe (machine) does not make those marks.

No. That's artistry. The debate over machine carved drums has more to do with smooth bore lathe turned drums. The inside of a hand carved African djembe will have a uniform spiral "chipped" chisel pattern as opposed to a perfectly smooth inner surface. The outside of the drum might be smooth or artistically carved like those in your link.
