Help Identify Mystery CD

Postby batz » Thu Feb 24, 2011 1:40 am

So I was given this disc about 4 years ago, but there is no indication of Artist or Album name on the tracks. I've been using it for years now, and its about time I figure out what CD it is. I'm sure one of you will know.

There are 10 tracks, though the actual album could have more and my friend only had 10 on his disc (it was copied from multiple people before given to me)--I have no idea.

Track 1:
track1.mp3
(587.25 KiB) Downloaded 69 times

Track 6:
track6.mp3
(588.78 KiB) Downloaded 55 times

Please help me identify it. :D

Thanks!

The first rhythm is Djole, the second rhythm is Guinea Fare. I don't recognize the recording though...

Cheers,

Michi.

Thanks Michi! You added the missing piece. I knew #1 was Djole, had no idea about some of the other tracks. But with your Guinea Fare clue I did a search and found this CD which matches the tracks I've got:

Fore-Fote, Wonbere
http://www.amazon.com/Wonbere-Fore-Fote/dp/B00004SRF3

"Wonbere ("With Joy") is the aptly titled CD from M. Lamine "Dibo" Camara & Company Fore-Fote. ("Black and White"). The Camara Brothers are Susu people who have been involved with the national ballet of Guinea and are now on their own path. This is a yembe (djembe) extravaganza, a wonderful collection of tunes that constantly push forward, encouraging everyone to dance."

Any knowledge of Fore-Fote? I'm not familiar, but I've been practicing with his versions of Djole and Soli for a while. Would like to hear any opinions about this album.

Thanks again!

Excellent, thanks for the link. That gives me some nice background on the group/CD.
