I have noticed that WHERE I play it affects how much it rings, and I h ave also noticed that WHO plays it also has an affect. When drummers better than me play it I don't hear the ring...and neither do they. So I'm hoping practice will be part of the solution

well the main thing is you connected with it, and now you get to enjoy it!

Is this normal?! Is this how ya'll feel when you play your drum?

Don't worry, irrational bouts of happiness, uncontrolled smiling, and elevated endorphin levels are common side-effects and nothing to be concerned about. Consult a psychiatrist if happiness persists.
