GIANT MALIAN SEKE SEKE

Postby Waraba » Sun Oct 30, 2011 1:10 am

So... Those giant, large, huge seke seke (ksing ksing) they use in Mali--- How to get them? You can see them on the djembe on the current Takumasan (sp?) photo on the home page.

Anyone going to Mali any time soon can bring me back a set? Will pay of course...

Waraba,
There are several places you can get ksing ksings. There have been a few discussions on home made versions here:
http://djembefola.com/board/technical-advice/ksink-ksink-t2659.html?hilit=ksink
http://djembefola.com/board/help/ksing-ksing-where-find-the-best-online-t2766.html?hilit=ksing
Several shops also sell them (Rhythm Traders, DSD, Wula, etc.)

Yes, but none are the huge, fan-like Malian ones. I want those big tushy-whackers.

Was just perusing the Drumskulls site and came across these. Not sure if they're what you're looking for, but they definitely look large!

I had seen those, and they look nice, but not Malian. Those guys are often about a foot long off the drum and I kick myself every day for not having bought a set when I was there. I have not, not, not seen them outside of Bamako. Anyone who finds such a set or is in BKO and picks one up for me I will reimburse you for them.
