another stupid question...about ending a piece.

How do you end the piece you're playing. I've been instructing my kids to finish with either a cadential pattern such as 000*000*000, or ending with the appellant that began the piece. Is there a formal way to end a piece?

The most common way to end a piece is with an echauffement and a call. There are many different styles of echauffement. The majority of them play every 16th note, but there are different ways to place the tones and slaps. For a 4/4 rhythm, a very common echauffement is

Code: Select all
ttssssssssssssss
.   .   .   .

followed by a call.

Here is a short sound clip with this style of echauffement.

i pretty much answered this in the other topic where you asked about echauffements. basically, you can use a call (appel in french) to call the rhythm in and out.
