Hi Ella,

You can make one by tying some small bells onto a short piece of rope. Find some small bells at a craft store or a bead shop and then you can make one yourself.

You are looking for these, they are called Ghungroos

Since you are in China, look for a djembe shop or an Indan musical instruments shop nearest to you, maybe in Singapore. And you can make them at home too, like Jeff said, but need to get the right bells, not all bells sound good as a metronome.

I just got my Ankle bells from DSD. They are Ok, they have a high pitch because they are small, maybe 1/2" half rounds. The bigger ones will have a lower pitch with less pingy sound, it also depends on the inside balls. These ones are solid ones, there are some with hollow balls inside that give a lower sound with less ring.

I have a pair coming from India too. If they are different than these I will update here about the sound.

I've seen other spellings of ghungroo.

Any store that sells costumes for North Indian classical dance will likely have them in stock, as many dancers wear them. That should give you more options.

Yes, there are many, its "interpret at will" because translating Hindi words to English is a matter of finding the right spelling to match the pronounciation in the original language, and there are no set rules, various interpretations.
