here's how to make a video (from youtube, vimeo, myspace, etc) appear in your message.
it's usually preferable to start a new topic when posting a video, unless the video is more of a response to what someone else wrote.it's easiest not to use the quick reply if you're new to this.- copy the url of the video you want to embed (select it and choose 'copy' from the edit menu. in windows you can simply select the url, right click it and choose 'copy').
- create your message. when you are ready to embed your video, click on the video bbcode button located to the right, above all the smilies. your cursor will be between the opening and closing video tags. keep it there and select 'paste' from the edit menu, or press ctrl-v. you now have the url of the video between the video tags.
e.g. 1- Code: Select all
[video]http://www.youtube.com/?v=123qwe456xyz[/video]
- you're almost done, you just need to remove the http from your url, to make it look like this:
e.g. 2- Code: Select all
[video]www.youtube.com/?v=123qwe456xyz[/video]
- when you have done this, preview the message and see that your video is displayed correctly. if all is ok, click 'send'. otherwise, check that you have deleted the 'http' prefix (along with the '://').
this works with vimeo, youtube, myspace, googlevideo and several others. it currently doesn't work with dailymotion. if your video is not previewing correctly and you are sure that the url is correct and that you have removed the prefix from the video's url, then the video type is probably not supported and you will have to just link to the video without the video tags. people will then need to click on the link to see the video.
