Do you like to dance?

Postby bubudi » Thu Mar 18, 2010 10:35 am

my name is bubudi and i love to dance. i don't perform or teach dance, it's more something i do for fun and to enhance my understanding of west african rhythms. i'm lucky enough to pick up dance steps fairly easily in class, but unfortunately i forget them quickly if i don't practice, and i don't get much time to, due to work, family commitments and other interests like drumming, kickboxing and swimming. i actually got into west african dance not long after i started drumming. back then we had a crazy teacher that lost the majority of her regular students due to her huge ego getting in the way. it was years before i hooked up with dance classes again, and now we have some really great dance teachers here. i still think west africa has some of the best dance moves of anywhere in the world, hands down.

would love to hear from others who are passionate about the dance, whether you dabble, perform or teach.

Well that subjective and debatable. I would say one of the most vibrant, energised and fast movements for sure.

I used to be a good party dancer :-) not dabble, not perform, somewhere in between. For WA dance, I would like to learn but for now, whenever I am in a class I am drumming. Maybe later, but that a good idea to indulge in the dance. It will be easy to mark the dancers when you have "been there, done that" :-). Thanks for the post.
If you want to see me kick some butt, just tell me about all the things you think I won't be able to do
