Minyanka dance

the minianka are a subgroup of the senufo that live north of sikasso in the southeast of mali. there are a small number of minianka eastward just over the border in burkina faso. according to yaya diallo, author of 'the healing drum', who grew up in a minianka village, minyanka music tends to be more trance like than the music of many other groups, and it definitely looks that way from this video.

this rhythm has an interesting meter, similar to koreduga. according to the notes on the video (in french), the villagers are celebrating the new year.
