Thanks Michi--the drum is on the way. The price is amazing ($365 with shipping) But what is really miraculous is that my wife agreed to let me get it.

The djembe gods must have been approving of your choice ;)

Congrats on the drum. That is a great price. Don't know how much shipping cost you, but for me it is a extra 100 bucks.

One of the advantages of living in NJ--shipping from Wula was only $25.

Thank you Trog for your original post that tipped me off to the Wula clearance--only two left as of Monday.

I've owned all sorts of djembes (Remos, Ghana, Senegal, Indonesian, Iroko, Hare ) and the Wula is in a class by itself--the best sounding drum I've ever heard. The drum I received is a very solid, very heavy piece of acajou. Aesthetically its beautifully carved with a nice darkish brown goatskin head and rubber tire foot. The sound is practically perfect--warm thuddy bass, tight tone and a slap that will probably cause hearing damage. Very loud but still melodic souding. This drum almost plays itself--my hands just go along for the ride. I don't think I'll ever tire of this drum. If you can still get one for $340 then jump on it. Good Luck.

Hey chavesbeste, I am wondering why you choose acajou wood over hare or lenke. My drum is lenke (not a Wula) and was wondering if you bought yours for a sound quality of the wood or just because of the size, design..etc.

Hi Trog

I didn't set out to but acajou--all the bargain Wula djembes were that wood and I got the one recommended by them. I do not own a lenke but have heard all good things--the acajou has a great reputation but was a great surprise. I bought a Wula hoping to get a higher quality than my Mali hare. It does not disappoint. I think at this level of quality its going to be a powerful sounding drum no matter what wood.
