Reasonably priced djembes for a cause- Helping SABU school

Postby Jessie » Wed Sep 07, 2011 12:19 pm

Hello,

My name is Jessie and I live in Asheville, NC.

I have 10 djembes from Guinea, West Africa made from "red wood" I am selling them as a part of an income generating project for SABU international school which is located in Guinea-Conakry.
All the djembes are full sized length. Heads range from around 11 1/2 - 12 1/2 inches.
They came headed and with rope from Guinea, but some of the rope is not the highest quality, and so the prices are adjusted.

Prices (without shipping): Djembe: shell with rings but no rope and no skin : $200
with rings, and good skin but bad rope : $250
with good skin and good guinea rope: $ 300
with new skin and new rope from states: $350

These are nice, simple shells- no carvings and proceeds go directly to the school.

I have known and seen SABU school grow from the ground up, starting in a shack with a few students in 1999 and now serving over 400 students as a full k-12 school, many of their students come from war torn Sierra Leone. I have been to the school and volunteered in Guinea both in 2001 and 2007 and it is amazing to see the growth in both the students and teachers and how they are providing the community in Guinea with this much needed service of education. They are especially in need of monetary help right now because they got kicked out of their school building and need to find another place. Please see their website www.sabuschool.org for pictures and more info. Even if you are not interested in a djembe they are always in need of supplies and volunteers from all over the world.

Please feel free to contact me through the board or by my email: ritesofrhythm@hotmail.com

Thanks so much,

Jessie

You can't beat that price!
I snagged one of these, its plain but flawless.
With new rope (I might be able to salvage the skin), this will be a really nice djembe.
Easily worth the price.
I'll post a pic when its all pretty.
