Re: Why the djembe matters to me (Part 2) by ladydjembe on Sun Nov 18, 2012 8:18 pm
I really enjoyed reading this blog. It seems that like 'born again Christians' we are all somehow called to African drumming. How? Why? Who knows?
Watching someone play djembe one day at a school event while I was chaperone to 60 school kids, it hit me, it was like I had been slapped across the face, from that moment I was hooked and from that day everything fell into place. I found my first drum, my first group and my first teacher all within a week of this first live experience and my journey goes on from playing, to teaching, to drum repairs, to drum making.
Meeting the most wonderful people along the way, a journey that I hope will never end. :)

There is a thriving djembe community in .

Why not contact some of our members who are passionate about djembe to see what's happening in.

Nice one Michi, thanks for sharing the story. The djembe has taken me on a wild and totally unexpected 4 year break from academic philosophy and I have no idea where it's taking me but I'm happy to go there!

Did this tour this morning with Rick. He was a fantastic guide and teach Ed. His instructions for the Segway were very clear and as a result I felt very safe whilst using it. It was great fun to ride, although would recommend rugging u p as much as possible as the breeze was very cool. Rick gave a great commentary on the sights we stopped at and also some good tips on things to do and places to eat at whilst in Paris. Overall the company was very friendly and knowledgable and a fantastic first experience in Paris. We highly suggest www.privatetoursinistanbul.com
