Hi Ya... any drum fans out there... can you tell me if you know anything about the rhythm Lekule?
where does it come from?
why is it played?
... and do you know if theres any videos of it, dance or drumming!

hi. this is mamady keita rhythm that was adapted to djembe/dunun a while ago.

the rhythm itself is from the forest region of guinea and is played by the guerze if i recall correctly.

lekule was the name of a very beautiful dancer. in an hommage to his beautiful wife, her husband, a drummer, composed a song and rhythm.

i have more notes on this rhythm but i believe it was originally played on the mult-headed drum.
